Adele looks stunning on the cover of American Vogue and rightly so, she was the big Grammy winner girl deserves to milk as much shine as possible, Karl Lagerfeld eat your heart out!
Other covers this month include Nicki Minaj on the cover of Paper, Natalia Vodiannova on Vogue Paris, Alexa Chung on Elle UK and Lais Ribeiro’s on Vogue Germany. Before you know it the Ides of March will be upon us so move fast!
And to my darling baby boy Emijah who turns four today a very Happy Birthday; the first of March is your day, I love you!
Toodles!

January 2012 Mag Covers
2012 is here, so now what? With the start of the year finally here, many of us including myself may be seeking to reinvent our tired individual wheels into something magical for a change. Consulting your favourite magazine for what’s new on the runway or what’s hot on the shelf is where many of us will start.
Rihanna keeps it hot in a sexy red dress on the cover of Glamour Russia; color obviously still a major trend despite the cold. I would have been shocked not to see Rihanna on the cover of some January 2012 issue; I mean she is a major fashion trail blazer, along with others like Nicki Minaj who left a huge imprint on fashion in 2011. She may not conventional but I know I’d be lying to myself if I didn’t admit her wacky style is just a little more than intriguing. It takes some serious balls to pull out some of the looks she’s worn on a regular day forget stage costumes.
Other major covers included the faces of Lady Gaga on Elle UK, Angelina Jolie, Kimora Lee Simmons and Lily Cole.

Lady Gaga for a double cover of Elle UK
Tayane Leao, Lais Ribeiro and Marcelia Freesz for Vogue Brazil January 2012 and Kimora Lee Simmons for Harper’s Bazaar Singapore
Rosie Huntington Whiteley for Harper’s Bazaar
Angelina Jolie for Marie Claire US and Xiao Meng Huang nude for Numero China January/February issue.
Lily Cole for Vogue Russia January 2012.
Fashion Education
I’m feeling like a sponge these days, eager to soak up whatever knowledge I can. My focus has been shifting ever so slightly from the big screen to paperbacks. As detail oriented as I am, (or anal as my fiancé would like may label my particular quality!) my attention to the small things seems to be heightened when it comes to anything fashion.
Studying pattern making, or the history of Chanel in Paris or reading a bio on lets say Canadian fashion authority Jeanne Becker who has influenced so much of the way fashion is viewed in Canada would be a fantastic treat to indulge in while sitting on the swing in my yard with a glass of cool lemonade for the summer!
A few books I’ve been eyeing for a read include Derek Blasbergs “Classy”, I know it’s been out for sometime now I just haven’t had a chance to pick it up! I’d also love to read Alexander McQueens’s “Genius of a Generation” or his latest “Savage Beauty” based on his exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art organized by The Costume Institute this year.
Here’s a few inspiration images I found on StyleCaster of designer Katie Ermilio lux New York apartment. Now this is fashion education, what a collection! What fashion related books are you reading right now? Got any good ones on your wish list? I’d love to hear from you!

Mags: UPDATE: Rihanna for US Vogue April 2011 Cover + Spread
An update to an earlier post: “Rihanna is Jessica Rabbit” a closer look at Rihanna’s latest cover and spread for US Vogue April 2011.
Rhianna’s style and ever inventive perspective on fashion keeps the fashion world a buzz. Here’s what she she had to share with Vogue on her point of view:
“It’s become more about taking a risk. When I am putting looks together, I dare myself to make something work. I always look for the most interesting silhouette or something that’s a little off, but I have to figure it out. I have to make it me. I think that’s the thrill in fashion.”
