Goodbye 2011
Goodbye 2011. This year as every year that passes seems to have gone by faster than the last. Sitting here reflecting on all that has happened this year both in my personal life and my blog, there’s been a lot of highs and lows, all of which I am thankful for.
Not to get to philosophical on you guys while most of us are preparing on the eve of the biggest party of the year, but I’ve learned as great deal about myself this year. I’ve learned how important it is to live. And truly live, not just consume air. Life is incredible delicate, and I’m thankful for all the connections I’ve made and for the ones that continue to grow stronger.
For 2012 I not only resolve, but also am committed to uncovering me. Happiness starts from within and radiates outwards. That means I need to spend a lot more time getting to know the real me, and doing things and being with the people that I love. That’s one thing I’ve neglected in the years past that must end.
To cast away the regrets of the past year and move towards a better and brighter one I thought I’d just share everything that has touched and inspired me from 2011 and bring that positive energy on with me in the next.
11 trends/things I loved about 2011 that I’ll draw inspiration from for my wardrobe in 2012:
- Pattern on pattern
- Layering color
- Sheers
- Blush tones
- Structured satchels
- Buckle details
- Menswear
- Rooney Mara
- Tortoise print
- Polka dots
- Red lips
Happy New Year everyone!!

Be Inspired by Red + and the winner is…
I love the color red, there’s something so powerful and seductive about a woman who walks into a room wearing red, whether it is a red lip, or a sexy red dress. I swore up and down I’d integrate more color into my wardrobe; red is one of those colors I naturally shy away from I feel like it does nothing for my skin tone. I may be absolutely wrong, so I’m going to give red another try. I loved this look on Emilie of mylittlefashiondiary a stylish blogger from Luxembourg and thought I’d try and capture the same look with similar items.
A crisp white shirt and bright red pants here make a statement without coming off too strong, love the little burst of animal print on her purse it’s a great way to add another color that isn’t boring old black which would make this look a bit harsh for day. I have no pants in my wardrobe that aren’t blue, black or brown…how boring. Add that to the shopping list!

Nothin’ Like a Rucksack
The Ruck Sack by Empress-TQ featuring a brown backpack
Monday morning I felt like I was back in high school, as I got ready for my first day of…well sort of. I’m gearing up for September at and had to go write one of those skills assessment tests. Dreading every minute of it because I know there’s going to be some math on there and god knows I’m no mathematician. I was however excited to be surrounded by college lifestyle again. There’s no other place you can find such an array of different styles, tastes and diversity of people.
As I packed my purse with all my daily essentials like lip gloss, which I can’t go a day without, a snack..I hate get stranded without food..and all the other pieces of my get fixed quick aresenel it dawned on me that I soon won’t be able to strut around with my purse!
Schools going to mean a laptop and books, and books equal a book bag...right? There are other options; messenger bags, tote bags, the older ladies love the backpacks on wheels. But nothing says higher learning like the ruck sack.
I had my very own back in elementary school, looking through these is very nostalgic for me, it reminds me of being young and care free…

Royal Living: Alexander Wang’s Bachelor Pad
American designer Alexander Wang gives us a window into the space where he calls home, located in Tribeca and decorated by a college buddy Ryan Korban. His loft is everything I would have imagined it to be; modern, lux, and minimalistic.
