February 2012 Mag Covers
It’s the start of a new month; February the month of love. Full of champagne, chocolate and couture; short and sweet and too the point, that’s what February is. My Birthday is actually on Valentine’s Day so February is always twice as sweet for me! I’ve already made plans for that weekend, but of course I’m going to double my pleasure and make other arrangements as well. I’ll be sure to post pics…promise!
Take a look at the latest fashion mag covers for this month, ranging from Chanel Iman, Coco Rocha, Gwyneth Paltrow and Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift (don’t hate till you see her) and more

True Queen turns 2!
So I’ve never really been one for birthday celebrations or parties…for myself. I fear I’ve spread that abstinence of yearly recognition to my blog and for the first time I want to take a second and say thank you. To anyone who has ever stopped by for a minute, read anything I’ve shared or were thoughtful enough to leave me a comment to you I say thanks!
I’ve been blessed enough to have received the love and of support from family and friends, and I want everyone to know that all your kind words have given me the motivation to continue blogging over the past 2 years. I started this blog out of bordem in 2009 (in November so it really seems like 3 years) after giving birth to my son, and searching for inspiration and now the thought of not having my blog is almost unimaginable to me. It’s become almost like a second child to me…lol almost. I’ve connected with so many talented people on and offline and I plan to continue spiraling deeper into the blogging world, for many more years to come.
This year I’ve decided to renew my commitment to this blog and devotion to my readers with more quality posts, fun features and of course better give aways! (That’s a hint for an upcoming one I will be hosting at the end of the month, more details on that soon)
Happy Belated birthday True Queen!!!

Goodbye 2011
Goodbye 2011. This year as every year that passes seems to have gone by faster than the last. Sitting here reflecting on all that has happened this year both in my personal life and my blog, there’s been a lot of highs and lows, all of which I am thankful for.
Not to get to philosophical on you guys while most of us are preparing on the eve of the biggest party of the year, but I’ve learned as great deal about myself this year. I’ve learned how important it is to live. And truly live, not just consume air. Life is incredible delicate, and I’m thankful for all the connections I’ve made and for the ones that continue to grow stronger.
For 2012 I not only resolve, but also am committed to uncovering me. Happiness starts from within and radiates outwards. That means I need to spend a lot more time getting to know the real me, and doing things and being with the people that I love. That’s one thing I’ve neglected in the years past that must end.
To cast away the regrets of the past year and move towards a better and brighter one I thought I’d just share everything that has touched and inspired me from 2011 and bring that positive energy on with me in the next.
11 trends/things I loved about 2011 that I’ll draw inspiration from for my wardrobe in 2012:
- Pattern on pattern
- Layering color
- Sheers
- Blush tones
- Structured satchels
- Buckle details
- Menswear
- Rooney Mara
- Tortoise print
- Polka dots
- Red lips
Happy New Year everyone!!

True Eats: Black Bean Personal Pizza
Incorporating more iron in my diet is becoming increasingly important for me as a vegetarian. I recently learned that although I eat a lot of iron rich foods only about 30% of the iron contained in non-heme sources like spinach and dried fruits, are absorbed by hey body. No wonder I feel tired and sluggish!
So to rectify this I decided to become proactive and really make it my business…because it is…to make sure my body is getting what it needs. Blogging should be improved by this boost of energy too!
I created this pizza incorporating an unlikely ingredient; black beans. Known for their high iron content they give an extra boost to a diet that may be lacking this important mineral. Not to worry the carbohydrate content here is very low since I only used a flat pita bread, you can put whatever you like on it really but here’s what I used.
Personal Black Bean Pizza
Ingredients:
1 Pita bread
Diced baby tomatoes
Mushrooms
Green peppers
Your choice of shredded cheese
Black beans
Sliced onions
Low fat pasta sauce
It’s only a matter of minutes before you’re enjoying a little slice of personal heaven, a guilt free way to integrate pizza into any diet, coming in at about 300 calories for the diet conscious. Know any other good iron rich recopies you use at home?

Taking a Stand
Oh how I love these shoes… alas it can never be…
It’s been a long time coming, and I can turn a blind eye no longer. When I first started this blog I happily blogged about any and everything I could get my hands on; celebrity style, fashion editorials, other bloggers and so on. I’ve never really addressed on an ongoing basis anything that I was truly passionate about, and that is shoes…or the lack there of in my case anyways.
I don’t mean to sound negative but shoes, the one thing I love so dearly barely makes the slightest dent on my blog because they simply don’t come in my size; nothing with an ounce of style anyway. I’m frustrated and tired of scouring the mall and the net only to be disappointed time and time again. Women’s feet are getting bigger and mine have always been, but the lack of larger sizes in fashion is a terrible pitfall that needs urgently to be addressed. Do women with big feet lack style or grace? A problem so wide spread from mainstream to high fashion can be covered up no longer.
It disheartens me to know that tall Amazonian women who not only prance the same dance but share the same flare are discouraged from enjoying such shoes like these pair from NastyGal which I love so dearly. It would be love at first height, if only given the chance.
Sizes 12 + are not available for women like myself who yearn to dawn an outfit that is complete from head to toe.
This is a challenge that I am putting out into the world. Who will rise to the occasion? I will continue to hunt, and send my letters of love and concern to designers and retailers who exclude us long lean legged fashion queens who long to wear shoes that fit comfortably.
Dear Nasty Gal will you not shower us ladies with your goodness? Why have you forsaken us?? When will you cater to women of a larger persuasion?? What are your thoughts or reasoning behind your shoes size selection?
If there are any designers or retailers out there that cater to or include women’s shoes (that look good) sizes 12 + please email me at truequeeninc@gmail.com I’d love to chat with you!
