Gorgeous Kitchens + Quick Coco Monkey Smoothie

And just like that it’s spring! I’ve been working really hard the past few months in school –  alienating myself in the process – so a lot of things I love to do like blogging or spending time with family and friends, have kinda fallen by the wayside. Since schools over…for about 7 more days, I’m super excited to be back! My morning routine has been hectic, and  I usually prepare a lot of my food myself since I’m not big on eating out, so I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. Everyone in my house eats a little different, even though we’re all vegetarians, our taste span an interesting continuum from kid friendly finger foods to carbohydrate dense meals…none of which belong to me, so that means 3x the cooking some nights!  A few mornings a week I make myself a smoothie, it cuts cooking time and my carb intake for the morning in half.

Today I woke up with a sweet tooth, like most mornings, and imagined how incredible it would be, to wake up and throw together this coco monkey chocolate smoothie in anyone of these gorgeous kitchens. I’m sure even the chocolate would taste sweeter if I lived like this! Here’s the recipe and  five kitchens that I wouldn’t mind spending my entire day in – Plus I’m pretty sure I heard at least two of them whisper my name…one day my loves..one day.

Celeb Style + First Post of 2013

Inspired: Victoria Beckham

This is my first post of 2013!

With the holiday season totally off the map, and the new year already well underway, I’ve finally had a chance to tear myself away from life and return to one of my fondest loves; blogging!

I’ve missed blogging so much, and scold myself mercilessly forever having stopped. I thought with the New Year this would be a great opportunity to get back into the swing of things, and return to sharing all the ideas I’ve been bubbling over with when it comes to the material world.

I don’t think of myself as a material person, I’d like to call my approach to clothes and fashion as more of a stylistic symbol of expression than anything else. Yes this might legitimize my penchant to shop, but I swear its true!  I do sometimes imagine how much fun it would be to have the chance to style certain celebrities, some because they inspire me, others because they’ve no understanding of the word style. I mean they’re in the most expressive positions possible, with the various events that supersede the usual mundane day to day events like going to school and the grocery store, or staring at the mint green walls in the waiting room in the doctors office, they get to play dress up all the time, at awards ceremonies, balls and galas, concert performances, etc, their opportunities for expression are endless. It’s not fair!

So I decided to integrate a new addition to what will soon become my new blogging roster of posts, which I haven’t decided on a name for just yet, if anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear from you, but for my first run, I chose Victoria Beckham. I chose her mostly because her style speaks to me, she’s structured and knows how to flatter the female figure incredibly, also because she knows how to keep that structure young, and sophisticated rather than old and stuffy. Girl’s got an edge and I love it!

Move over ladies…the beach isn’t just for the bikini!

Top Tips For the Modern Man and His Swimwear

With fashion constantly changing, it becomes hard to know what is and what isn’t fashionable at any particular moment in time. As the holiday season starts and everyone is getting their bodies ready for the beach, many men are frantically running around trying to do some last minute shopping and trying to decide on the best type of mens swimwear to embrace for the coming season.

Swimwear is an integral part of any man’s holiday wardrobe. One pair of trunks seem to be able to last a man for years, so it’s important that you find the right swimwear for you.

When choosing swimwear you want to be able to feel comfortable; the more comfortable you are the more confident you will feel.

Speedos

We are all too aware of speedos and the pros and cons of wearing them, but it’s still a form of swimwear which many men choose to embrace. As the Olympic Games gets underway in the UK,  the Great Britain swimming team will be out in force in their speedos. This means there could be a rise in the popularity of these types of swimming shorts in the coming month so be prepared.

Trunks

Swimming trunks or board shorts, on the other hand, provide the modern man with an effortlessly casual style which covers a much larger amount of skin. Whether you are jetting off to some far away land or just getting some exercise down at the local swimming pool, you will always want something that is comfortable, stylish and easy.

Board shorts are perfect for those of you who can’t sit still around the pool or beach. The board short is about knee length and is a practical item of clothing if you enjoy surfing, water sports or messing around by the pool.

On the other hand, if you are the ultimate relaxer when it comes to holidays, or you just enjoy a little chilled out swim in the pool, then why not go for a swimming trunk that sits just above your knee?

Choosing the Colour

When you are considering what colour or pattern to go for, remember that there are two main options. Plainer varieties are ideal for those who are looking for something conservative or professional, whilst brighter, bolder patterns are better suited to those who want to stand out from the crowd and intend to wear their swimwear as a fashion statement as well as a practical item.

Sketchy: Alexandre Vauthier Haute Couture A/W 2012

I’ve been searching for a reason to start drawing again, now that my last mid term exam is finally behind me (thank you baby Jesus!) I can get reacquainted at least for a little while, with all the things that spread a goofy smile across my face. For inspiration  I was looking through somone of the fashion shows over at fashionising.com and came across the Alexandre Vauthier Fall Haute Couture collection; loved it.  Clean bold shapes and gotti gold accessories, this partiucular outfit read as summer to me, on a cool breezy day. I wasn’t too familiar with the design house until Rihanna put them on the map for me with an aquamarine green piece with football looking exaggerated shoulders she sported back in 2010 with her bowl cut.  Loved it then, love it now! Alicia Keys was even spotted working one of their dresses at the 2012 Grammy Awards looking top notch of course.

Any who what do you think?  Have I captured the look?  Have you seen the Alexandre haute couture collection?

Shake Your Tail Feather

Shake Your Tail Feather

It’s July! It’s a new month, and there’s plenty of new beginnings going on in my life that I’m itching to share with you all, but I’ll save the juicy details for another post I have coming up soon. In the mean time for the month of July the sun is in full swing and like a bird taking flight for the first time I’ve looked to the peacock to draw inspiration for these jewel toned pieces. Excellent on dark complexion jewel tones have long been a mainstay in my summer collection of items, my favourite being the deep purple, a color fir for none other than royalty! A true queen like myself, if you could see me I’d have on a goofy smile and the most deliberate wink.
Enjoy the rest of the long weekend and congrats to Spain for taking the Euro cup!  Woot woot!
Get the look after you hit it!

Beads, Beads, Beads

What better time is there than the summer months to show off your best jewels!  It seems as though no summer ensemble is complete without the addition of a sparkly gem and unfortunately as much as I’d like to I don’t have as many jewels as there are days in the summer. I thought maybe creating my own pieces would help add a little color to my small collection without adding the huge dent in my wallet to match.

The lovely people over from beadsbarn.com introduced me to their website which has an extensive collection of beads for the budding DIYer; a title I hope to carry myself in the very near future, or for the fashion conscious on a budget. They carry all sort of beads including, wooden, swarovski, and glass beads as well as the clasps and wire needed to put it all together.
