Fashion Stand Outs: New York Fashion Week Edition
Despite her fall on the runway at Naomi Campbell’s Fashion For Relief-Haiti Show English Model Agyness Deyn had her feet deeply rooted in being a fashion stand out this week. She strikes a pose backstage at the Alexander Wang show, wearing my absolute favourite make up look by far. Not for everyone mind you, but her brown eye shadow brightens her already bright blue eyes. An animal print coat and wide trousers, are a blast from the past, but kept up to date with a clean striped shirt and large black satchel.
Backstage at the G-raw Presentation on the 16th Agyness showed us how versatile she is, decked out in all black and a leather biker jacket. Her bowl hair cut (which I’m not the biggest fan of) and bold red lips manage to look sex, modern and fresh.
Zoe Saldana was eye catching amongst all the grey at Bryant Park during fashion week. Her off white full length trench coat create a clean slate to show case those shiny leather knee high boots. She makes this look appear effortless with her long color blocked sweater dress, and long loose signature tresses. The theme here is length, and height which make Zoe Soar high above the rest.
Irina Lazareau, left a sparkle in the eyes of all who came across her at the Marchesa FW2010 Presentation at the Chelsea Art Museum and at the 3.1 Phillip Lim show on February 17. A heavily ruffled white Marchesa dress that would have given off a major wedding vibe, was saved by the black tights and peep toe pumps that gave it a modern and chic appeal. The former model made an easy transition from her dress into a sequined 3.1 Phillip Lim Shirt dress, $995 that takes center stage against her bare chest.
Olivia Palermo was a polished gem all week, from wide legged trousers and an oversized Blazer backstage at the Rachel Roy presentation. This was one of the highlights for the Girl Meets Boy discussions this week, a look she pulls it off with ease. On Day 4 of NYFW she showed us the perfect way to wear gold without being over the top or tacky. She incorporates animal skin with her black snake skin coat, gold skirt, black tights and pumps (which give the illusion of mile long legs!) The 3rd time she stunned the crowds was again at a Rachel Roy viewing in a Rachel Roy Pre Fall crinkle dress, and leopard print belt for and interesting accent.
New York Fashion Week Round Up
So many shows, so little time! Vera Wang, Elie Tahari, and Victor De Souza all presented striking collections this week. Vera’s collection played into being soft but hard at the same time with sparkly mini dresses, tulle skirts, draping silks and pearls necklaces. All of which were reinforced by the strength of black.
Elie Tahari gave us a little spice with punches of oranges and gold, paired with the perfect neutral; Grey. The 3rd look is very wearable right off the runway, layering short, tights and boots, is a fun and versatile look year round.
I found this show very eerie and beautiful all at once. The model all wore black contact lenses and heavy eyeliner. Bold and almost alien like, Victor De Souza pushes the boundaries of fashion once again.

Marc Jacobs Fall 2010

Marc Jacobs Fall 2010 collection in one word. Vintage. the colors are all vintage inspired but he presented them in a way that is current and fresh. It reminds me of the 70’s with the wide legged shimmery green pans and the excessive use of fur. Metallic’s, sequins and velvets have been rocking the runways, this week and Marc’s collection was no exception to that. I do think how ever I will remember each piece as being uniquely Marc Jacob.
My favourite piece is the ombre gown; it had Kate Moss written all over it.

All The Lovely Ladies Backstage At The Rachel Roy NYFW Show

The Rachel Roy show was amazing I loved the entire collection, but with the bustle of fashion week I’ve been very busy. So here some photos of the lovely ladies who came to show their support for Rachel Backstage. Rachel’s known for combining classic pieces and upping the ante with creative accessories. Her deep silver v-neck and grey trousers look great paired with bright gold jewellery. A great smile doesn’t hurt either!
They ladies that attended the show includes, Selita Ebanks, Keke Palmer, Bria Murphy and her mother Nicole, Veronica Webb and Socialite Fabiola Beracasa.

Model Selita Ebanks wore a midnight blue metallic one shoulder dress; whew that’s a lot of trends in one sentence! She looks great and play coy with the camera, we know you’re a model the camera loves you!

Lacoste revealed their fall 2010 collection a few days ago at the New York Fashion week events. Large over-sized knit sweaters and sheer tops were a few of the many rising trends that are popular on many of the runways this year.
For this look they paired a beige knee length knit with heather grey tights and white loafers. Now you can get the look for less from Net-A-Porter, Top Shop and Forever 21. I’ve put together this outfit with items that are worth saving or splurging on to achieve a Lacoste Fall ready look.
NYFW: Carlos Miele Fall 2010

Is it spring or fall?? Carlos Miele presented a collection full of color in feminine color blocked and paneled pink, purple, and red dresses. There were plenty of patterns to choose from, including florals and abstract prints. Cobalt blue, the color to watch for this spring was also present, in a one shouldered draped evening gown.
He focused on emphasis on the shoulders and created attention grabbing necklines. My favourite piece is the 3rd image of the abstract printed gown. You could get lost in that pattern. All the dresses were paired with black ankle boots, that brought these vivid colors back into that fall spectrum.
