February 2012 Mag Covers

It’s the start of a new month; February the month of love.  Full of champagne, chocolate and couture; short and sweet and too the point, that’s what February is.  My Birthday is actually on Valentine’s Day so February is always twice as sweet for me!  I’ve already made plans for that weekend, but of course I’m going to double my pleasure and make other arrangements as well.  I’ll be sure to post pics…promise!

Take a look at the latest fashion mag covers for this month, ranging from Chanel Iman, Coco Rocha, Gwyneth Paltrow and Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift (don’t hate till you see her) and more

Solange A Model?

I’ve always loved Solange; she’s such a free spirit.  It may seem like she’s trailing behind in her sisters larger than life shadow; her 100 million time platinum albums, and now with the recent birth of her daughter Blue Ivy Carter.  ( I’ll go in on the name another time).  Solange moves to the beat of a different drum if you ask me. Indie, pop, jazz, retro, soul sums her up pretty well.  I think her off beat style is what makes her such a viable model, besides be insanely beautiful.

Now signed to Next modelling agency I can’t wait to see what she pulls together for her official modelling body of work.  I think she’ll get some well deserved shine; she’s already modelled for Carol’s daughter, Rimmel London, and Dereon her big sis’ label.  Think she’ll make a good professional photo subject?  Here’s some pics of her past work, lover her as much as I do??

I’ve Got a Bad Attitude

Up tomorrow at 5:40 to get ready for school, 8:00 am classes really do kill me, as morning fresh as I usually am.  Theres something about sitting in a classroom before 9 am that feels illegal.  There isn’t how ever any reason why being dressed to kill should not be an option.  A healthy dose double pattern from models Shanay Hall and Sanne in a shoot for Fashion gone Rogue Never Here Again… by New York based photographers Angelo D’Agostino and Hannah Khymych speaks to the punk princess in me.

The torn leggings paired with a stripped sweater and gingham print pants are a perfect example of the trend; an art really which takes some skill in producing a look that doesn’t look like a failed attempt at dressing in the dark.  Love it, perfect care free send off for the work week and welcome to the weekend. The layered rings, moto gloves and teen frustration solidify this “bad” persona; a look that will knock any mid term out of the park by sheer intimidation, I’m all over it!

Double pattern anyone? find it royal or terribly spoiled??

Enjoy your weekend!

Where There’s Smoke…There’s Models

Smoking and high fashion models are often seen hand in hand; one appears to compliment the other.  There are a number of models who smoke including Kate Moss who is a legend in her own right, Adriana Lima one of the top Victoria Secret angels, Daria Werbowy and Lily Cole are also major smoking offenders.

What do you think about the image this perpetuates?  Positive? Negative? Neutral?  Is it a woman’s right model or not to have her own personal vices?

Never the less it’s hard not to admit the images are striking, one can’t help wonder what the subject of these images are contemplating; they look lost in thought, and peaceful.

Let me know what you think!

Models at the CFDA Fashion Awards

Models Liya Kebede, Alessandra AMbrosio, Chanel Iman, Karlie Kloss, Karolina Kurkova and Sessliee Lopez hit up the CFDA Fashion Awards dresses up or should I say down in a budding trend of long gowns for the evening.  White continues its reign as the go to color; I’m loving Liya’s fresh and simple approach to elegance.

Next in line is bright fire engine red, with Alessandra lighting the cameras on fire in her red gown, paired with her large silver statement piece necklace.  Diva!

Check out what inspired the other ladies of the runway that evening.

Bridal Inspired Jessica White at the 2011 Angel Wings Foundation Benefit

Inspired by angels no doubt model Jessica White let her name ring true in a white silk cowl back dress at her 2011 Angel Wings Foundation Benefit at the Georgica in Wainscott, New York. Not at all over done her look is simple yet elegant.

The Angel Wings foundation focuses on helping women and girls who have been sexually abused.  Sexual abuse is such an important issue for the fashion industry at large and strong people like Jessica who was abused herself to address and shed much needed light on.

Beautiful inside and out. Get the look when you hit it!
