New Year’s Eve Outfit Idea: Midas Touch

New Year Eve Outfit Idea: Midas Touch

TIBI long sleeve shirt, $275
Faith Connexion skinny leather pants, $1,160
Valentino open toe heels, $745
Yves Saint Laurent patent leather clutch, $595
Dannijo crystal necklace, $520
DOLCE & GABBANA MAKEUP Classic Cream Lipstick Iconic, $35
Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow, $20

If your practical like me and consider comfort and the weather before putting anything on, then don’t be too quick to rule out the idea of wearing pants to bring in the New Year.

What better way to bring good fortune your way in 2012 except in a pair of solid gold trousers?  They add the glitz required for the occasion and let’s face it, when else is this color any more appropriate?

I’d keep make up minimal; using gold’s and browns for shadow with the exception of a bright red lip. Match your lip to your clutch and keep it moving till the clock strikes 12!  I finished this look with a pair Valentino open toes pumps, and a sheer Tibi shirt.  If you’re not one for the outright sparkle that New Year’s is known for this is a nice let’s call it “conservative” alternative.

As much as I would love to hit the streets and party this year, I think it’s more likely that I’ll park my butt in front of the TV at home to watch the countdown by a warm toasty fire and my own alcoholic concoction.  Drink responsibly now!

Friday Fashion: Rihanna in “Rinimal”

"Rinimal"

Happy Friday!!!
The week is over but that only means the weekend has just begun!  Rihanna’s cover and spread in the Vogue November 2011 issue inspired this look for me.  Anyone going out this weekend is almost guarenteed to have these 3 pieces in their wardobe; a basic black blazer, black dress shorts and a black tank.
What I love most is how you’d expect to see sky high heels, but for the practical Queen these oxford flats make a great alternative, at 11:30 pm your toes will thank you!
Try and avoid wearing the black tank top you use to layer under your sweater during the week, instead go for something a little more dressy, like this one by Alexander Wang for a more polished and less deliberately simple look.
I’m in a party mood, and I hope everyone else is, in keeping with all things Rihanna I sign off for the weekend with her latest video, “We Found Love”.

Happy Monday!!

You know me, I’m a glam rock princess at heart, anything tinted black or  leather has my name scribbled all over it.  This weekend I went on a hunt hitting up many of my favourite spots in search of leggings which I’ve dubbed the “Cosby’s”   The old school sweater print just reminds me so much of Bill Cosby and the sweaters he use to wear so often on the show, so I’m officially going with that name!

I didn’t end up finding any unfortunately, I did have my heart set on a pair, made all sorts of plans for them which won’t ever come to pass….BUT I did come up with this cute outfit that features almost the exact pair I want from romwe.com, I’ll probably just end up ordering them from there, they offer free worldwide shipping, no minimum purchase required!

Behati Prinsloo for H&M Fall 2011

I love H&M, they haven’t steered me wrong yet and this Fall 2011 campaign featuring model Behati Prinsloo speaks to the quirky character within me.  Using scarves to anchor each look, theres a great mixture of colours and textured knits; mustard doesn’t  seem to be loosing its grip, and many of he looks are a throw back to the loose and easy styling of the 80′s.

80′s baby yeah!  Its a double edged sword shopping is; I love whenI find a great item but hate checking my account, *sighs*. I’ll try and keep my fingers out of the cookie jar, but with the move towards snow I can’t deny myself a new hat now can I??  Not the hat shown below though..a little too “fierce” for my taste lol

Be Inspired: Thanksgiving Dinner

Be Inspired: Thanksgiving Dinner

If you’re like me comfort almost always wins out over style; so this thanksgiving while you’re with family you maybe haven’t seen in years, you can be thankful not only for they’re company but that your stomach has room to expand after a hearty thanksgiving dinner!

Cropped boyfriend jeans and an over sized cardigan over a tank like this striped one easily go from 0 t o100 with the addition of gold detailed booties like these ones. This look doesn’t take too much thought but will leave you looking polished with little effort.  Simple, chic and not overdone, almost exactly what I plan on wearing to chow down this weekend, positively cannot wait!

Hope everyone is thankful for another day, make your mark!  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Chic Shopping at Boutique1

For me hopping is more than just a grab and go type of deal.  Not for any fashion enthusiast I know.  The mood, the decor and lighting in a store set the tone for someone who has come not only on a mission, but to enjoy their favourite past time; shopping can be considered a hobby, sport or even full time job!

I was recently introduced to Boutique1; a terribly chic line of stores located across the middle east in Dubai and United Emirates to name a few.  Going through the photos of the different locations I was completely enamored by the decor.  This particulat location in the Jumeirah Beach Residence is 3 floors of heaven and over 300,000 sq of paradise.  I would simply be in heaven at any one of their gorgeous locations!

You can find all your favourites from MissoniErdemVictoria Beckham to Proenza Schouler.  Obviously on the higher end of fashion in both price and quality, a girl can’t help but dream about being lucky enough to step foot into anyone of these fab pieces!

Even if you like myself can’t drop everything and jet set across the planet to enjoy this amazing shopping feast, gaining access to the goods online is as easy as turning on your TV.  Shipping to just about everywhere in the world including my hometown in Canada.

I fell in love with so many of the pieces that I came up with an outfit that I could actually see myself wearing; this is a great weekend look stepped up to a designer level.  High on my wish list right now are Cardigans for fall, so I centered my look around this gorgeous motor cycle inspired cardi and PS1 bag. Absolutely LOVE the heels, so elegant!
