Boxing Kitten Resort 2010 Launch Presentation + Estelle in Boxing Kitten

Late last month I was very excited when I shared the news of Boxing Kitten’s soon coming spring 2010 lookbook.  Thankfully I was dropped a tip by Emily that the release party was actually last night on the Soho roof top at Etnie’s Showroom in NYC and it was for the Resort 2010 collection.  Maya A. Lake the divine mind behind the label poses with models above all dressed in clothes from her label.

The line has the same African flare I’ve come to know love about the label.   I’d like to get my hands on a few pieces, including that purple jumpsuit.  There’s so many events going on in the city, and now that I’m back and actually living an active social life…(one which I’ve been deprived of for several months)  I’ll have more reasons to dress up and post outfit pics!

I’ll have the lookbook for the collection to share with you sometime next week so make sure to check back for that see exactly what Boxing Kitten has in store this season, but from the looks above I’m sure I’ll be in love.

Giorgio Armani Designs Custom Pieces For Alicia Key’s “Element Of Freedom” Tour

Alicia Keys will sparkle on her tour in a custom wardrobe designed by Giorgio Armani.  Giorgio Armani has designed several of the outfits that Lady Gaga has worn to her shows in the past; these looks will be worn by Alicia on the European leg of her tour for “The Element of Freedom”.

My favourite is the first outfit above a white crocodile military jacket covered in Swarovski crystals.  Can’t wait to see Alicia in each look!

2 More looks when you hit it.

Moises De La Renta For Mango

Oscar De Las Renta’s adoptive son Moises De La Renta has lent his creative hand to the Mango Label I’ve come to so dearly love. The label which will be called MDLR for Mango will be released this month in store and online.

“New York has that whole masculine vibe in fashion, but with Mango I wanted to go back to something more classic and very romantic”

And romantic it is with decorative trimmings of ribbon and gold chains around the necklines of simplistic T’s MDLR 2010 brings a new spin to the most cherished everyday staples.  The line will be With affordable prices ranging from $50-$80, I think I’d take a stab at the black shirt with the gold chain around the neck, it has a dark edge that forever has me weak.

Mara Hoffman Abstract Princess

On my morning blog hunt I stumbled upon a designer on hearty magazine I had never heard of but fell instantly and madly in love with by the name of Mara Hoffman.  What drew me in so quickly to her work was her liberal and bold use of color and pattern for every piece she puts forth.  Her spring 2010 collection shown here has everything from dresses to swimwear, which are silk screen printed a change from her original hand dyed couture work.  Pieces of her work even have even appeared on Sex and The City, and worn by the likes of Kate Hudson and the stunning Naomi Campbell.

Margaux Lange Puts A New Spin On Barbie Dolls

Many girls all over the world including myself have grown up with a stack of Barbie dolls sitting pretty on her bookshelf eager to greet her each morning, and watch her curiously sleep through the night.  She dresses prettier than most women and was built with the body of a God.  Barbie has touched most of our lives in a profound and meaningful way; both positive and negative experiences have shaped and formed the minds of most young girls.

Margaux Lange was also deeply affected by Barbie and some might say a little obsessed with the image of Barbie.  She is the designer behind these interesting/creepy/cool creations.  No body part goes to waste when she is creating these fantastic jewels, and the only thing in her way is her own imagination.  I read her interview with Jungle Gym Magazine, and have become a real fan of her work.  It’s so different and unexpected, and I agree with what she said about there has been so much real “life” attached to Barbie that seeing her broken to bits at first even for me was a little unsettling. Then I took a second to think about it and thought, wow that’s really different…I love it!

What do you think about what Margaux has done with Barbie, are you inspired or turned off?
