Be Inspired: Thanksgiving Dinner
If you’re like me comfort almost always wins out over style; so this thanksgiving while you’re with family you maybe haven’t seen in years, you can be thankful not only for they’re company but that your stomach has room to expand after a hearty thanksgiving dinner!
Cropped boyfriend jeans and an over sized cardigan over a tank like this striped one easily go from 0 t o100 with the addition of gold detailed booties like these ones. This look doesn’t take too much thought but will leave you looking polished with little effort. Simple, chic and not overdone, almost exactly what I plan on wearing to chow down this weekend, positively cannot wait!
Hope everyone is thankful for another day, make your mark! Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Peacocks and Fairies and Sprites…Oh My!
Fairies and sprites are the creatures I envision dancing and prancing along their merry way when I look at this dress. With three tiers it’s more of a gown really. I’ve become such a dress enthusiast over the past summer; they really are an instant make over especially on my trouser wearing behind. I fell in love the moment I spotted it on the rack.
The soft pastel blue and pink colors with its peacock pattern take me to a peaceful place every time I look at it. I took her out for her very first spin this past weekend to celebrate my very robust 65 year old grandfather’s birthday. He’s as sturdy as an ox, and can throw down like one too!
We all had a great time despite getting the only table being beamed down on by the sun, and being hungry because dinner didn’t get served till late, even though I attacked the vegetable spring rolls and salmon cakes served as appetizers. I let down my hair and mingled a bit while being introduced to many people from my childhood that I regretfully had no recollection of. It was a wee bit awkward at points but my smile never faded; my family is huge it’s hard to keep up but I’m quickly getting up to speed!

Looks We All Love From J.Crew
I’ve seen the light, and don’t ever plan on going back! Bright colors continues to go strong into the fall season, I for one am all for it seeing as most of my life I’ve spent locked up in black and white. I’m all for minimalism but with collections like this “Looks We Love” for J.Crews Fall launch I’ve learned minimalism doesn’t mean black and white.
Liu Wen and Jacquelyn Jablonski demonstrate how to marry both minimalism and color blocking into one happy family. All the pretty colors makes you want to jump up and sing just a little bit doesn’t it?
The fast approaching fall season is both saddening and exciting for me; summer will soon be but a memory and It’ll mean school is about to start. (O yeah I haven’t mentioned that till now) Yes This september I’m headed back to the big house to further expand my noggin with useful tidbits of information. This also means more outfit posts to share..Yay!
Crushing on the first two looks above and the third one with the beige trench directly below. I still need to pick up a colorful pair of pants. Put that on the to do list. [images via]
Chic Shopping at Boutique1
For me hopping is more than just a grab and go type of deal. Not for any fashion enthusiast I know. The mood, the decor and lighting in a store set the tone for someone who has come not only on a mission, but to enjoy their favourite past time; shopping can be considered a hobby, sport or even full time job!
I was recently introduced to Boutique1; a terribly chic line of stores located across the middle east in Dubai and United Emirates to name a few. Going through the photos of the different locations I was completely enamored by the decor. This particulat location in the Jumeirah Beach Residence is 3 floors of heaven and over 300,000 sq of paradise. I would simply be in heaven at any one of their gorgeous locations!
You can find all your favourites from Missoni, Erdem, Victoria Beckham to Proenza Schouler. Obviously on the higher end of fashion in both price and quality, a girl can’t help but dream about being lucky enough to step foot into anyone of these fab pieces!
Even if you like myself can’t drop everything and jet set across the planet to enjoy this amazing shopping feast, gaining access to the goods online is as easy as turning on your TV. Shipping to just about everywhere in the world including my hometown in Canada.
I fell in love with so many of the pieces that I came up with an outfit that I could actually see myself wearing; this is a great weekend look stepped up to a designer level. High on my wish list right now are Cardigans for fall, so I centered my look around this gorgeous motor cycle inspired cardi and PS1 bag. Absolutely LOVE the heels, so elegant!

Love to the North: Dace Spring 2011
Nothing could be better than falling so deeply and madly in love with a label that’s made with that romantic dreamy yet modern feeling, and what’s more to sweeten the deal, the label Dace is proudly Canadian.
Dace was launched in 2002 by Dace Moore, born and raised in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, and a single mother and graduate of Blanche Macdonald Centre for Applied Design, her designs garnered media attention by her work and participation in local fashion shows even before graduation.
For spring 2011 Dace concentrates her looks on easy separates; bermuda shorts, dolmans, chunky knits, trouser and blazers, all done in soft neutral tones from off white to navy blue. A high end Canadian line with pricing upwards of $49-320, the line also features handbags, belts, hats and jewelry.
Why I love it? I love how polished these looks are without being an inch past casual, definitely can see celebrities like Whitney Port, Nicole Richie and Alexa Chung rocking the hell out each piece.
If you’re as love struck as I am check out her lovely online shop Dace.ca and follow Dace on Twitter @daceclothing or become a Facebook fan here

Karen Millen Colour Blocked Knitted Dress
Getting ready for a day at the beach? This Karen Millen color block dress combines both a nautical style and color blocking into one neat little package. At $230 it’s a definite splurge and I do love the nautical look, but if your not feeling like popeye the sailor man, send the same message in a more subtle way with this cute mini.
Meant for everyday wear try this look with white slip on sandals and a light weight cross body bag in a contrasting color like red or yellow for a lazy day at the beach!
