Sporty Chic: Rihanna in Alexander Wang Sandals

Even though the weather maybe better suited to boots, and UGG’s I’m fantasizing of bearing my toes in something like these Alexander Wang Chloe sandals Rihanna is wearing.  The way she’s paired them is genius by the way; the shorts and Tee let the focus fall solely on the heels.

I wouldn’t be able to pull that look off but the shoes I could definitely work with.  On Net-a-Porter for $525 these are clearly just a dream. Even if I could deciding which one to take home would be near impossible; I love all 3 color options I truly can’t pick a favorite!

Twinkle Toes

  1. CO-OP Barneys New York high heel shoes, $199
  2. Rodarte ruffle shoes, $244
  3. London Rebel platform shoes, $84
  4. Miu Miu jeweled sandals, $990
  5. Christian Louboutin platform pumps, $1,395
  6. Linda champagne glitter fabric sandalNEW SEASON Jimmy Choo – Designer…, $695
  7. Steve Madden glitter platform heels, $130
  8. Hunter wellington rubber boots, $145
  9. Zara brogue shoes, $30
  10. Kate Spade slingback pumps, $325

Who says glitter is only for special occasions? I think it’s perfectly appropriate to work in a bit of sparkle in bewteen the holidays, and a pair of gleaming kicks is one great way to do it.  The key is not going overboard; pair anyone of these shoes with a simple plain shirt and pants for maximum impact.

I love the flats #9 from Zara with the leopard print, they make it easy to stand out from the crowd in a subtle and informal way.

Beats Couture

I’ve been talking a lot about the Beats by Dr. Dre headphones with friends since they’ve been on crazy sales during boxing week.  At regular price they can come in at about $350.  Already worth a pretty penny, Dre and Oscar de la Renta team up to bring us these; what I’m calling Beats Couture.  And how much do you ask does it cost to listen to music in high style; just under $700 at $695.

Worth a listen???

Goodbye 2011

Goodbye 2011.  This year as every year that passes seems to have gone by faster than the last.  Sitting here reflecting on all that has happened this year both in my personal life and my blog, there’s been a lot of highs and lows, all of which I am thankful for.

Not to get to philosophical on you guys while most of us are preparing on the eve of the biggest party of the year, but I’ve learned as great deal about myself this year.  I’ve learned how important it is to live.  And truly live, not just consume air.  Life is incredible delicate, and I’m thankful for all the connections I’ve made and for the ones that continue to grow stronger.

For 2012 I not only resolve, but also am committed to uncovering me. Happiness starts from within and radiates outwards.  That means I need to spend a lot more time getting to know the real me, and doing things and being with the people that I love.  That’s one thing I’ve neglected in the years past that must end.

To cast away the regrets of the past year and move towards a better and brighter one I thought I’d just share everything that has touched and inspired me from 2011 and bring that positive energy on with me in the next.

11 trends/things I loved about 2011 that I’ll draw inspiration from for my wardrobe in 2012:

  1. Pattern on pattern
  2. Layering color
  3. Sheers
  4. Blush tones
  5. Structured satchels
  6. Buckle details
  7. Menswear
  8. Rooney Mara
  9. Tortoise print
  10. Polka dots
  11. Red lips

Happy New Year everyone!!

New Year’s Eve Outfit Idea: Midas Touch

New Year Eve Outfit Idea: Midas Touch

TIBI long sleeve shirt, $275
Faith Connexion skinny leather pants, $1,160
Valentino open toe heels, $745
Yves Saint Laurent patent leather clutch, $595
Dannijo crystal necklace, $520
DOLCE & GABBANA MAKEUP Classic Cream Lipstick Iconic, $35
Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow, $20

If your practical like me and consider comfort and the weather before putting anything on, then don’t be too quick to rule out the idea of wearing pants to bring in the New Year.

What better way to bring good fortune your way in 2012 except in a pair of solid gold trousers?  They add the glitz required for the occasion and let’s face it, when else is this color any more appropriate?

I’d keep make up minimal; using gold’s and browns for shadow with the exception of a bright red lip. Match your lip to your clutch and keep it moving till the clock strikes 12!  I finished this look with a pair Valentino open toes pumps, and a sheer Tibi shirt.  If you’re not one for the outright sparkle that New Year’s is known for this is a nice let’s call it “conservative” alternative.

As much as I would love to hit the streets and party this year, I think it’s more likely that I’ll park my butt in front of the TV at home to watch the countdown by a warm toasty fire and my own alcoholic concoction.  Drink responsibly now!
