Posh + Emerald Interiors

I picked up this bright emerald green by Revlon called Posh #571 at the Lisa Cosmetics sale this past weekend, which was a trip I will never forget – savings up the wa-zoo in there! I know I haven’t told you yet, but I will share my haul with you guys in an upcoming post! Anyway I’ve been searching for a gem toned green polish for a while now, so I was super happy to run into Posh! Definitely need two or even three coats to achieve the full color, but I toped coated it with China Glaze top coat and am very happy with the end result!

I could so see this color all over the hottest interiors right now, jewel tones are huge at the moment and a great way to punch up any space.

More emerald green interiors when you hit it!

Livin’ Large in Small Spaces

Never doubt the potential of a space, even if it’s seems about as small as a sardine can.  There are many advantages to having a small space; it’s easy to clean, cozy, and hard to loose you car keys in..something that my fiance Jarratt seems to do quite a bit!  Although one day when I’m ready to settle down and pump the brakes on life, I definitely want my mansion..for now though I have my eyes set on a sizeable yet efficient apartment space.

Even in this small loft however gorgeous, you can see how every square inch becomes prime real estate; it can be hard to distinguish one area from the next without a plan.  A great way to do this is by organizing spaces with color and pattern; a rug can easily distinguish the living from the dining area.  And you don’t have to introduce a variety of colours when you take advantage of patterns and placement, any one space can have up to 20 different patterns without clashing! A perfect example is how they have places these 2 orange rugs above; one with and without a pattern.

Another great tip is to utilize organizational pieces like book shelfs that can be used as spatial dividers, and double as storage space for decorative items, books, or hidden compartments for video games…because you know no mans house is complete without that.

Also be sure to be consistant; in a small space you still need to keep in mind that pretty much everything is visible all at once, so when it comes to decor you still want to maintain the same overall style.  I found this gorgeous loft on freshhome.com and was inspired to start creating my mood board for my future apartment.  The hunt is still on, so wish me luck!

Check out the rest of this gorgeous space after the jump.

Mad About Marigold

Fall has never looked so bright with everyone going crazy over this sun kissed hue; Marigold is kind of a big deal. H&M actually has 2 items (a dress and shirt like #5) I’m kicking myself for not picking up sooner in this color, which would have looked bomb with a pair of navy tights and loafers…

If rocking a bright frock isn’t your cup of tea there are plenty more subtle ways to do the Marigold; a cute pair of shoes or a tote for school you can never go wrong with strong accessories.  Even when it comes to home fashions pair this color with neutrals; brown, beige, grey and of course black or white for maximum impact.

It’s not too late though so I have some hunting to do; I’m trying to be hot enough to melt some ice caps this year!  Get em here:

Color Inspiration: Knee Deep in Mint

Seen on the runways of both Max Azria and Monique Huillier’s Spring 2011 Runways, stars like Kerry Washington showed up to the Met Gala in her beautiful mint colored Escada cut out dress.

I continually receive compliments on my minty tipped nails, and when ever I’m feeling uncertain about a color I fall back on my Revlon Minted which I picked up for just under $6!
