Solange A Model?
I’ve always loved Solange; she’s such a free spirit. It may seem like she’s trailing behind in her sisters larger than life shadow; her 100 million time platinum albums, and now with the recent birth of her daughter Blue Ivy Carter. ( I’ll go in on the name another time). Solange moves to the beat of a different drum if you ask me. Indie, pop, jazz, retro, soul sums her up pretty well. I think her off beat style is what makes her such a viable model, besides be insanely beautiful.
Now signed to Next modelling agency I can’t wait to see what she pulls together for her official modelling body of work. I think she’ll get some well deserved shine; she’s already modelled for Carol’s daughter, Rimmel London, and Dereon her big sis’ label. Think she’ll make a good professional photo subject? Here’s some pics of her past work, lover her as much as I do??
January 2012 Mag Covers
2012 is here, so now what? With the start of the year finally here, many of us including myself may be seeking to reinvent our tired individual wheels into something magical for a change. Consulting your favourite magazine for what’s new on the runway or what’s hot on the shelf is where many of us will start.
Rihanna keeps it hot in a sexy red dress on the cover of Glamour Russia; color obviously still a major trend despite the cold. I would have been shocked not to see Rihanna on the cover of some January 2012 issue; I mean she is a major fashion trail blazer, along with others like Nicki Minaj who left a huge imprint on fashion in 2011. She may not conventional but I know I’d be lying to myself if I didn’t admit her wacky style is just a little more than intriguing. It takes some serious balls to pull out some of the looks she’s worn on a regular day forget stage costumes.
Other major covers included the faces of Lady Gaga on Elle UK, Angelina Jolie, Kimora Lee Simmons and Lily Cole.

Lady Gaga for a double cover of Elle UK
Tayane Leao, Lais Ribeiro and Marcelia Freesz for Vogue Brazil January 2012 and Kimora Lee Simmons for Harper’s Bazaar Singapore
Rosie Huntington Whiteley for Harper’s Bazaar
Angelina Jolie for Marie Claire US and Xiao Meng Huang nude for Numero China January/February issue.
Lily Cole for Vogue Russia January 2012.
Wrap it up
I will continue to say how much I love Solange’s style; she just doesn’t give a shit what anyone thinks. Afro, clean shaven or a turban, Solange exhibits no fear of the big chop. I cut my hair once, and only once and I’ll never forget it. I wanted to leap from the chair and run down the street ringing the alarm, but after a little internal pep talk I decided against it… and lived. Everyone loved it by the way but since then I’ve twisted my hair into locks, no big chop on the horizon for me, but I won’t say it hasn’t crossed my mind.
I would however wear a turban, or at least try it out once; an outright rejection of the daily hair whoas, and all that come with it. Plus I find it lets a woman’s true beauty shine right through

Was feeling Calvin Klienesque, came up with this last night while watching Drop Dead Diva. Don’t ask me how they’re connected I’ve no idea, but Stacy was being a complete bitch, don’t let fame get to your head girl.
But back to my set; Fur coat coats have been on my mind a lot lately especially since I excitedly washed my coat and fried my fur in the dryer…
It was heart breaking, one of the disadvantages of faux fur. I try my best to be socially conscious of these sort of issues but sometimes it’s just not as good as the real thing.
I’d actually wear something like this, with some dark denim, tangy orange boots, and a simple white shirt. Love it! I found these really quirky glasses from Mary Kate and Ashley’s collection The Row which I’ve fallen in love with. It adds the little touch of odd that makes this look work, MK&A’s specialty.

Breaking more than Dawn
Image Via Fashion Gone Rogue
An admitted twi-hard fan, I’ve been anticipating the release of the next movie in the Twilight saga “Breaking Dawn“, since the minute the previous film (“Eclipse”) ended! I’m not going to camp out or poke any eyes out for tickets on opening night (Nov. 18th), but I am a fan and have always thought Kristen possessed a quirky sort of elegance that just never seems to fail in great fashion editorials.
The dark and enchanting shoot she did for Vogue’s November 2011 issue by Michelangelo di Battista show how much this awkward yet delicate flower from Twilight, has blossomed into a poised and sophisticated young woman. The looks in the spread scream queen of some sort of modern under world. She wears sexy spider like heels, a dramatic over coat and of course being a trend, is covered in lots of sparkle. The pieces she was styled in come from the heavy weights of couture; Alexander McQueen, Roberto Cavalli, Blumaine and Marchesa.
