February 2012 Mag Covers

It’s the start of a new month; February the month of love.  Full of champagne, chocolate and couture; short and sweet and too the point, that’s what February is.  My Birthday is actually on Valentine’s Day so February is always twice as sweet for me!  I’ve already made plans for that weekend, but of course I’m going to double my pleasure and make other arrangements as well.  I’ll be sure to post pics…promise!

Take a look at the latest fashion mag covers for this month, ranging from Chanel Iman, Coco Rocha, Gwyneth Paltrow and Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift (don’t hate till you see her) and more

Sporty Chic: Rihanna in Alexander Wang Sandals

Even though the weather maybe better suited to boots, and UGG’s I’m fantasizing of bearing my toes in something like these Alexander Wang Chloe sandals Rihanna is wearing.  The way she’s paired them is genius by the way; the shorts and Tee let the focus fall solely on the heels.

I wouldn’t be able to pull that look off but the shoes I could definitely work with.  On Net-a-Porter for $525 these are clearly just a dream. Even if I could deciding which one to take home would be near impossible; I love all 3 color options I truly can’t pick a favorite!

Golden Girls of the 2012 Golden Globes

Hey queenies!  I know its True Taste Tuesday but i just had to dish on my favourite looks from the 2012 Golden Globes.  The ladies pulled it out!  Don’t ask me who won any awards because I have no clue; I didn’t actually watch it this year although I hear Ricky Gervais was the host again. I don’t mind him he’s a funny chap, but my attention is always focused on the red carpet.

This year forerunners included Angelina Jolie in Versace who showed up with papa Pitt.  Heidi Klum in a sexy neck breaking Calvin Klein gown.  (that is the necks of every man and women in the room) Lea Michele, Emma Stone and Reese Witherspoon also fired and hit the mark in their own respective dresses.  A noted theme were mermaid gowns, which is what I have my eye on for a wedding gown.  Its so complimenting on so many figures no wonder it was a popular choice.   Whose looks were your favourite??

Solange A Model?

I’ve always loved Solange; she’s such a free spirit.  It may seem like she’s trailing behind in her sisters larger than life shadow; her 100 million time platinum albums, and now with the recent birth of her daughter Blue Ivy Carter.  ( I’ll go in on the name another time).  Solange moves to the beat of a different drum if you ask me. Indie, pop, jazz, retro, soul sums her up pretty well.  I think her off beat style is what makes her such a viable model, besides be insanely beautiful.

Now signed to Next modelling agency I can’t wait to see what she pulls together for her official modelling body of work.  I think she’ll get some well deserved shine; she’s already modelled for Carol’s daughter, Rimmel London, and Dereon her big sis’ label.  Think she’ll make a good professional photo subject?  Here’s some pics of her past work, lover her as much as I do??

Wrap it up

I will continue to say how much I love Solange’s style; she just doesn’t give a shit what anyone thinks.  Afro, clean shaven or a turban, Solange exhibits no fear of the big chop.  I cut my hair once, and only once and I’ll never forget it.  I wanted to leap from the chair and run down the street ringing the alarm, but after a little internal pep talk I decided against it… and lived.  Everyone loved it by the way but since then I’ve twisted my hair into locks, no big chop on the horizon for me, but I won’t say it hasn’t crossed my mind.

I would however wear a turban, or at least try it out once; an outright rejection of the daily hair whoas, and all that come with it.  Plus I  find it lets a woman’s true beauty shine right through

Friday Fashion: Rihanna in “Rinimal”

"Rinimal"

Happy Friday!!!
The week is over but that only means the weekend has just begun!  Rihanna’s cover and spread in the Vogue November 2011 issue inspired this look for me.  Anyone going out this weekend is almost guarenteed to have these 3 pieces in their wardobe; a basic black blazer, black dress shorts and a black tank.
What I love most is how you’d expect to see sky high heels, but for the practical Queen these oxford flats make a great alternative, at 11:30 pm your toes will thank you!
Try and avoid wearing the black tank top you use to layer under your sweater during the week, instead go for something a little more dressy, like this one by Alexander Wang for a more polished and less deliberately simple look.
I’m in a party mood, and I hope everyone else is, in keeping with all things Rihanna I sign off for the weekend with her latest video, “We Found Love”.
