Easter Breakfast @ The Real Jerk
Photography // Shanan Hinds
Easter was a fun filled, stop-eat-and-go marathon jam packed with loads of laughter, and memorable moments. I had an amazing time with family; some I’ve reconnected over lost years. Caribbean breakfast is that I was raised on; Porridge, green banana, plantain, and dumpling filled our tables as we dug in at The Real Jerk in Toronto, Canada.
Located downtown on Queen st. E and Broadview, The Real Jerk served up authentic tasting Caribbean cuisine that had all of us ordering side after side of different dishes. I was apprehensive at first I will admit, this was my first time getting caribbean breakfast from a restaurant…I mean I usually have that at home or make it myself. Pleasantly surprised however the menu was very good, they offered a wide range of food with great tasting vegetarian options for people like myself.
The Establishment itself set the tone of a unknown hidden caribbean gem very well, the decor followed suit with bright vibrantly painted walls, Caribbean flags, Bob Marley and cute inspirational quotes I snapped on the wall that caught my eye, most likely while greedily reaching for my bun and cheese.
My Groupon coupon was definitely maximized here, I just so happen to see the promo the night before…lucky me! It allowed me to purchase $30 worth of food for $15bucks! Promo or not I intend to visit this spot again.
Strength. Love. Queen.
