Local Events: AfroChic @ Libra Lounge: A Night of Reinventing, Reinforcing and Revitalizing our Roots
A friend of mine, one of four lovely ladies of Afrochic, are on a mission to reconstruct the way black women are portrayed, the stigmas attached to having or pursuing natural hair as well as revealing the emotional barriers attached to them; have put together an evening that will breed enlightenment, and confirmation of what is beautiful for many.
These ladies take on and discuss the Good Hair vs Bad Hair debate, what set backs one may encounter in the business world, as well as calling upon a host of guest speakers with a complementary presentation of fashion designs based from Canadians around the fashion, and entertainment industry.
I regretfully won’t be able to attend the event, although it hurts my heart and I would have loved to meet many of you there, this event is the same night as the Bajan Charity Ball I’ve been telling you all about. But please do go check it out, and let me know what you thought.
It will be held at the Libra Lounge on June 12th, so that’s this Saturday night at 3-8pm. Tickets are $20 in advanced and $25 at the door. Libra lounge is located on 391 King St. W, I checked out the venue via their website, and it’s gorgeous! If nothing else you will be in for a fabulous night amongst intellectuals, throw on something chic! Hopefully I’ll have some photos to share with you all for next week.
