True Fit Fridays: Drop Kick Cellulite

However skinny, thick or tall women across the board, including myself, go to battle everyday against our most hated enemy; cellulite.  I look at my fiancés legs and cringe at how perfectly his skin lays against his thighs, and how tight and beautiful his muscles appear.  Why is it that men don’t suffer to the same degree as women do with this problem?

Well there happens to be a few reasons; for one the skin of males is thicker than a woman’s so cellulite is harder to see.  Secondly men’s skin is actually laid out in a tighter pattern like an interlaced metal fence; where as a women’s connective tissue has gaps and holes that allow fat to bugle out creating the bulge we try profusely to destroy.

If you really want to get rid of it there are 4 areas that you should tweak in your day to day life to improve the appearance of your legs, just in time for the summer heat wave!

1. Working out is essential in burning fat. A regular workout regimen which includes cardio and strength training should be a part of your schedule.  Find a time that works best for you, about 3-4 days a week to devote to squats, yoga, swimming or weights.

If you don’t own one, a pedometer is a really great investment your daily goal to maintain activity and burn adequate amounts of fat should be 10, 000 steps per day. I know it sounds like a lot but an hour of brisk walking should get you there easily.

2. Drink Green tea, caffeine free of course.  If you don’t already you have a very good reason to now.  Green tea has been proven to increase metabolism and an increase in metabolism equals burning more fat, which is exactly what we want. In addition to green tea lots of water throughout the day; 6-8 glasses will also help, the more you drink the less your body retains.

3. Address your diet.  All those yummy muffins, white breads and rice are packed with sugar.  Instead opt for whole grain cereals, oatmeal, pastas and brown rice.  Not only do these taste great you’ll be strengthening the muscles that surround fat which helps them to lay nice and flat.

Lower your salt intake to zero if possible.  The more salt you consume the more water your body retains, making your dreams of saying good bye to cellulite even harder do.

Increase your consumption of these magic foods tomatoes, ginger, fennel, onion, cayenne pepper, rosemary, cinnamon, cloves and lemons.

4.  Try adding some cellulite busting creams to your morning routine.  I use Nivea My Silhouette, which is a gel that contains white tea and anise extract. Products containing herbs or caffeine work best.

I personally can attest to these tips after the birth of my son I had gained just over 60 pounds and since then have lost over 90 and several inches.  I swear by this and will never go astray although I do intend to live my life and have fun once in a while; I always go back to what works best.

Have any amazing tips yourself?  Please share!
