Sorry We Don’t Have Your Size: Diary Of A Girl Left Behind

Ever since I was younger I always had an intense interest in all things fashion; dresses, purses, accessories, but especially shoes.  Selecting the right shoe can take an outfit from here to Mars in a flash; the wrong one will have you tumbling back down to earth faster than you can scream for help.

I try to stay up to speed in the world of fashionable footwear, and collect images of what I envision will complete the many outfits I’ve created for myself in my head.  I get dressed up, call up a girl friend and head off to the mall. Its shoe shopping time! My favourite but most hated task. Shopping for shoes becomes a time consuming ordeal when retailers just don’t carry your size. But I don’t get it, there are plus size clothes, why not shoes? If you wear size 11 or bigger, you can understand my distress.

Super models that have walked runways in Paris trot down catwalks in shoes the average person can only dream of touching. Many of them are tall and have big feet, so where do they get their shoes?  High end designers easily accommodate these women and put the big feet so many average people make fun of into works of art. Works of art that have people travelling all over the world to see.

But what if you’re not a super model?  What if money doesn’t grow on a tree in your backyard? Are Women with big feet forced to wear the ugly excuses for footwear that we find in specialty stores, with minimal selection? Do mainstream retailers not want our money?   We should not be forced to squeeze our feet into shoes that create blisters and cause an amazing amount of discomfort and stress.  Retailers need to expand their horizons with regard to size, because after my 23 years of life, still nothing has changed.

I’ve scoured the net and found a few retailers that have considered the woman with big feet and the comfort of her toes. Big toes need love too, and I’m tired of wearing runners all day! My search will continue beyond this article because I feel this is a pressing matter.  If you’re a retailer who wants to make a change or caters to women with big feet email me at truequeeninc@gmail.com, and share your thoughts.

If your a woman who is facing this same issue, please email me and tell me your story! BIG FEET UNITE!
