5 Hooded coats that will actually keep you warm this winter

So I’m in the malls looking for a new coat, and noticing that somewhere along the line, being warm has become passe.  Where have all the hoods gone?  Sure the military inspired and wool coats are gorgeous, but this is Canada and I need to be warm!  So  found 5 coats on Bluefly.com at affordable prices and all with hoods.

Kenneth-Cole-NYK-Smocked-DTL-bleted-hooded-DWN

Kenneth Cole New York

Price: $138 (reg $230)

This one is my favourite it’s exactly what I need this year, a black mid length down filled belted hooded mid thigh length coat…that was a long description, lol.

French-Connection-great-white-kinickie-duffle

French Connection

Price: $220 (reg $368)

I don’t usually gravitate toward white outerwear, but this is more of an off white, and I love to look so much that I had to put it down. It’s a wool/cashmere blend, fully lined, with two dual slit pockets also available in black.  Really contemplating this one, it’s different than the silhouettes I’m usually drawn to.

Marc-Jacobs-wool-furtrim-hooded-toggle-coat

Marc New York

Price: $279 (reg. 465)

Charcoal is a great alternative to black, it stays looking fresh longest because it hides any hairs from scarves that always like to stick to wool coats.  This one is by Marc New York it is also mid thigh length, with faux leather detailing.  Fox fur lines the rim of the hood, and the whole thing is tided together with a toggle closure.

Soia-Kyo-Black-houndstooth-naoki-hooded-dwn-jkt

Soia & Kyo

Price: $214 (reg$305)

Houndstooth is still popular this season, this down filled coat by Soia & Kyo.  It has a full zip front with snap closure.  Elasticized cuffs to keep the cold out, and four big buttons at the neck and removable hood.

Laundry-Black-quilted-satin-hood-dwn-jacket

Laundry by Shelli Segal

Price: $216 (reg 360)

For a finished look this belted down filled coat by Laundry, with a zip closure and fur trimmed hood, is a great alternative to a wool one.
